Yes, the use of the Isabel card reader is mandatory. The reader is also compatible with the Belgian eID.  

No problem. You can repeat the procedure.

In some cases you will need to pick up your new Isabel SmartCard or temporary PIN at the bank. If you are not able to do this yourself, please fill in this document and read the instructions carefully.

Yes, you need to install the eID Software of the Belgian government on you computer. After the installation of the software you can test it here.

Try the following:

1. Deconnect your Isabel card reader for a moment and then insert it again in your USB port.
2. When you see an error message, close down all the sessions in your browser. Restart your browser and try again.
3. Check to see that you have inserted your identity card correctly into the card reader and that the card reader is connected correctlyto your PC.
4. Check to see that you have installed the eID software (correctly). After installing the eID software, you can check to see if you have done it correctly. Carry out the test
5. Currently used browsers, programs and applications work with eID. You will find information about any problems and manual settings

This is a pop-up screen that belongs to the eID software. For the activation Isabel has to get access to your eID. You have to click Yes to continue. If you have clicked No you cannot continue with the activation. Go back to the steps to activate your card via www.isabel.eu/start.
